PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Singapore PR has no fixed formula:start by organising your circumstances and documents

Permanent Residence is independently assessed by Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Preparation commonly brings together the applicant's employment, family, education, life in Singapore and supporting materials.

WHO MAY CONSIDER PR

When do people commonly start considering PR?

Long-term residence may arise from work, business, family and life plans, but suitability cannot be determined from one condition alone.

01

Professionals already working in Singapore

Planning longer-term development after building a work and life record in Singapore.

02

Business owners / self-employed applicants

Operating a Singapore business and preparing materials based on personal and business circumstances.

03

Applicants with Singapore citizen / PR family relationships

Application routes and documents differ according to the family relationship.

04

Families planning to live in Singapore long term

Considering the main applicant, spouse, children and longer-term arrangements together.

Whether it is suitable to submit an application cannot be decided by one condition alone.

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

PR is not assessed on salary alone

ICA assesses applications holistically. These areas explain the preparation scope; they are not an official scoring model or self-calculation formula.

01

Employment and occupation

02

Income and employment stability

03

Education and professional background

04

Family circumstances

05

Residence and life in Singapore

06

Business circumstances, where applicable

07

Consistency and completeness of materials

08

Other documents requested by ICA

ICA assesses applications holistically. Its website does not publish a fixed points formula that applicants can use to calculate approval probability.

PR IS NOT A SCORECARD

These common statements should not be treated as a “PR formula”

A single condition may form part of the background, but should not be presented as an official threshold, success prediction or automatic conversion path.

“A certain salary is enough”

Income is one part of the application background and does not determine the outcome alone.

“Working for a certain number of years guarantees approval”

Years of work are not a published automatic approval threshold.

“High company turnover makes approval easy”

Business circumstances may form part of the background, but there is no published guaranteed turnover line.

“An EP automatically converts to PR after a few years”

EP and PR are different pass and status systems with different conditions and assessment logic.

“Success probability can be calculated”

ICA has not published a fixed scoring model that accurately predicts individual outcomes.

FAQ

Permanent Residence questions

Document checklists, fees and processing guidance may change. ICA's latest requirements should be used at the time of application.

How long does a PR application take?

ICA states that PR applications are generally processed within 6 months where required documents are complete and in order; some applications may take longer.

What salary makes PR easier?

ICA has not published a salary level that guarantees approval. Income is part of the application background and should be considered alongside work, family, education, residence and other materials.

How many years on an EP are required before applying for PR?

There is no published fixed rule that automatically qualifies someone for PR after a certain number of years on an EP. Submission should be considered against actual employment, family, residence and other circumstances.

Can a Singapore company owner apply for PR?

The applicable category and individual circumstances can be assessed. Self-employed applicants generally also prepare business registration, financial statements and other commercial materials required by ICA. Business ownership does not guarantee approval.

What company documents do self-employed applicants need?

ICA's current checklist includes the latest ACRA Business Registration Certificate, the latest 3 years' balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and may require additional supporting documents.

ICA has specific translation-form requirements. An ordinary self-translation generally cannot replace an official translation or certified document that meets ICA requirements.

ICA has not published a fixed model that accurately calculates an individual's approval probability. A private scorecard should not be treated as an official outcome prediction.

Can Evereach guarantee PR approval?

No. ICA independently assesses PR applications. Evereach can assist with application materials and preparation but cannot guarantee the outcome.
